In the Pre-K Classroom

Specific Math Skills:

  • Counting objects using one-to-one correspondence, identifying numbers

Content:

  • Bible - Matthew, Mark, Luke, John

  • Composer Study - The Carnival of the AnimalsSeasonal

  • Reading - All the Places to Love, The Little ½ Chick, Patrick, Our Seasons, Tree for All Seasons, How We First Came to Have Umbrellas, It’s Spring

  • Picture Study - I Spy Shapes in Art

  • Poetry - A Child’s Own Book Of Verse

  • Handwriting - Letter Naming, Letters T-V-Numbers 6-8

  • Seasonal Work - Painted stones

  • Phonemic Awareness - Sound, Rhyme Repetition

  • Practical Life - Folding-blankets, towels etc

  • Music - Students will learn folk songs, practice in-tune singing, high-low and loud-soft. They will learn to get a feeling for the beat and accent in duple meter. They will also identify rhythm patterns of familiar songs. Students will learn to play a recorder.

  • Spanish - 1a. Juan 4:8 recitation, Body parts, "Cabeza, hombros, rodillas, pies" song, "Un elefante” song.
