Bible — Matthew and Luke (The birth of Christ)

Composer Study — 1st term Composer is George Frideric Handel.  

Literature — We are finishing Little House in the Big Woods

Spelling/Phonics — High Frequency Word List 2. All single letter phonograms and ph, sh, ch, ck, qu, th, qu, er, ir, ar, ur, wor, wh, wr, au, ai, ea, es, ed, ou, ow, aw, ey, ay, tch, igh, dge and ear. Spelling Rules 1-4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 18, 26, 30, and silent E rules. 

Picture Study — Fra Angelico is our 1st term artist.

Poetry — 1st term Poetry will be over Children’s Anthology of Poetry and Christina Rossetti. 

Second Grade Math — Multiplication and Division.

Third Grade Math —  Addition and subtraction (continuation); sum and difference; add ones, tens, hundreds and thousands; two-step word problems; multiplication and division; word problems; multiplying ones, tens and hundreds; quotient and remainder; dividing hundreds, tens and ones.

Handwork — We will paint a wooden nutcracker and make ornaments. 

History / Read Aloud — George Washington’s Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior in Company and Conversation.

Art — Second and Third Grade will be working on a large nutcracker piece that will be finished in acrylic paint. 

Spanish — I write on the Board / Escribo en la pizarra (Series). I count / Cuento (Series). "Los Numeros” (Song). “Dichosa Tierra Proclamad” (Hymn). “Noche de Paz” (Hymn)

Music —  “Joy To The World”, “Silent Night”, Quarter Note, Quarter Rest, Rhythm patterns

Physical Conditioning — Second and Third Grade will play Follow the Leader, Simon Says, and Duck, Duck, Goose. 

Nature Study — We will learn about Cone Bearing Evergreens and about the 11 Illinois Hibernating animals.

Recitation — God’s Covenant with Noah, Genesis 9:7-17, The Full Armor of God, Ephesians 6:13-17 and Matthew 1:18-25

Science — We will learn about hares, rabbits, rodents, the red squirrel, whales and dolphins. 

Tales and Fables — The Devoted Friend by Oscar Wilde
