Composer Study — 2nd term Composer is Johannes Brahms. We will read from The Young Brahms and learn about his adolescent life and growth as a musician. 

Literature — The Tales of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter

Spelling/Phonics — High Frequency Word List 2 and a few words from High Frequency Word List 3. All single and double letter phonograms and wor, tch, igh, augh, eigh, dge and ear. Spelling Rules 1-11, 18, 25 - 28, 30, and silent E rules. 

Picture Study — John James Audubon is our 2nd term artist.

Poetry — We continue to learn poems out of the book Anthology of Children’s Poetry and poems by Christina Rossetti. We are learning how to recognize patterns in poems, rhyming words, and thinking critically about the thoughts the authors portray in their poems.

Second Grade Math — Graphs, picture graphs, and proportions. Geometry, flat and curved surfaces, composing shapes, decomposing shapes, and patterns. Area, square units and measure area. Singapore 2B 2nd term Review.

Third Grade Math —  Time, Hours and Minutes and Other Units of Time. Geometry, Angles, Right Angles, Area and Perimeter, Area, Perimeter, Area of a Rectangle.

Handwork — We are drawing pictures from our favorite stories in our purple copybooks.

History / Read Aloud — We will finish William Bradford Pilgrim Boy.

Art — We will finish an acrylic painting of a toucan on a black background.

Spanish — I get ready for bed / Me apronto para irme a dormir (Cont.) Set the table, please / Pon la mesa, por favor (Series)  “Caballito Blanco” (Song)

Music — Eighth Note, Eighth Rest, Solfege: So, Mi, Do, Rhythm patterns

Physical Conditioning — Free play at the Pavilion

Nature Study —  We will learn about bees from Jess Will and we will finish the year with a nature craft at the pavilion.

Recitation — Shakespeare compilation, Fruits of the Spirit - Galatians 5:22-26, and Psalm 23.

Science — We are studying 3 new dinosaur varieties each week.

Tales and Fables — “Puss and Boots,”  “Jorinda and Jorindel,” and “The Fisherman and His Wife” by Grimm’s Fairy Tales.
