Kindergarten Teacher

BS General Studies

Southern Illinois University,  Carbondale, IL

Jayme was born and raised in Nashville, TN. In 2005 she accepted and signed an athletic scholarship offer to attend and play softball at SIU Carbondale where she graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor’s of Science in General Studies and a Minor in Psychology. Her plan was to go home to

Nashville once she finished her studies. In 2008, God had a different plan. Jayme met her would-be husband. Her path in life changed and Illinois became her new home. She and her husband have two elementary school aged children. They spend most of their time at the soccer fields. When they are not there, they are enjoying time with family and friends. Jayme’s hobbies include hiking, camping, cooking, traveling, gardening, learning and applying sustainable living techniques, and a little hobby farm which homes their chickens, goats, and bees. Her family has just recently began attending First Baptist Church of Marion.

In 2016 Jayme picked her softball career back up but in a different form, this time she became the coach. Since then she has been a head coach for Adams Jr High, an assistant coach for Marion Jr High and Marion High School. In 2019, she decided to hang up her cleats and happily just be Mom. In the school year of 2018-2019, Jayme was the Kindergarten teacher’s aide at Adams School where she found a desire to pursue teaching elementary education. Within the school year of 2018-2019, she had the pleasure of holding the athletic director position for Adams School. In the Fall of 2019, she was a physical education substitute teacher (for a maternity leave position) at Carbondale High School. For the first quarter of the 2020 school year, Jayme substituted at various schools in the Marion Unit 2 district. She enjoyed the opportunity because it allowed her to work with children of all ages. She experienced different methods and tools of teaching and learned a lot about the field of education.

When Jayme first learned about the Charlotte Mason method, she did not actually know it was a method. Unbeknownst to her, she was using a similar style to raise her children. She was ecstatic to know there were more tools out there available to fill what her heart desired. When Jayme discovered there was a school that taught using this method, she was elated. she cannot wait to see what plans God has in store.
