3rd-5th Grade Teacher
Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL
Allexis Deaton Edwards graduated Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor Degree in Psychology in May of 2018. She has always dreamed of teaching and felt God pulling her in that direction. As a first year teacher, she is so excited to be a part of the Ambleside family! She has been an active member at First Baptist Church of Marion since she was eleven years old. She has taught fourth through sixth grade students, creating her own lesson plans and later taught through the AWANA program’s curriculum adding supplemental verses and take home studies. Today she teaches junior high students in grades seven and eight as well as working with high school age youth. She loves each of her students individually and enjoys watching them grow in their relationship with Christ. Allexis also enjoys teaching horse back riding lessons to all ages, encouraging her students in horsemanship skills, developing respect, self control, and positive self esteem. She has worked with a variety of children, including those with social anxiety, trouble focusing, high energy as well as feelings of sadness or loss. She guides them, through working with horses, to develop a feeling of purpose and instills in them them the love of Christ. She is very excited to continue in God’s will for her life; following His direction in teaching at Ambleside School of Marion and already loves her students!
